Why did we decide to partner with Hosparus Health?
Pets are often the only family patients have, and we realize the importance of keeping pets with their owners until life’s end. We knew we could make a difference for the patient and their pet at this critical time.
What makes it a good partnership?
Purrfect Friends volunteers love people and animals. Our volunteers know that we can make a difference in the pet’s life at a time when all focus is on the patient’s health.
How does this partnership fit into our mission?
Our organization is excited anytime a pet can stay in the home. Because of our volunteers, the pet continues to be loved and well-taken care of, and continues to provide companionship for the patient. It is a win, win, situation for the patient and pet. If the pet needs placement at the end of the patient’s life, Purrfect Friends will assist the family in finding the pet a home where they will be loved.
We help families provide animal placement, volunteers help with pet care, and anything else they need!
We will help pay for vet care if the patient is struggling financially, take pets to the veterinarian and/or groomer, provide pet food, cat litter, toys, anything that the pets might need. We walk dogs, change litter boxes and help keep the pets in the same type of environment they had before their owner became ill. If the patient hasn’t planned for the future of their pet at life’s end, Purrfect Friends will assist the family in placement of these pets into loving homes.
Why get involved?
We are involved because we believe that pets are an extension of the family. We want patients and families to have peace of mind.
We help help ensure that their pets’ lives aren’t disrupted by the patient’s illness. We make sure the dogs are still going on walks, their cat still has a clean litter box, pets are receiving medical care, and are getting the attention and love they deserve.
We do not want the patients to worry about how they will care for their pet during their illness. We want them to know that their beloved animals will be loved and cared for regardless of what happens. They do not have to worry about the financial burden of pet care at a time when many patients are struggling with their own medical bills. We take pet bill worry away and let them focus on their health. And if a loved one cannot take the pet at life’s end, we will assist the family with placement of the animal.
